What is Aquamation?
Aquamation is a natural and environmentally friendly alternative to cremation or burial. Aquamation produces no toxic air emissions and uses a fraction of the energy of traditional cremation.
Pacemakers do not need to be removed prior to the process and items such as titanium hip implants can be reused as they remain intact and sterile. Items of jewellery, gold teeth, and other implants are all recovered at the end of the process.
Aquamation uses a combination of flowing water, high temperature and alkalinity to accelerate the natural course of tissue and chemical breakdown. Remember – our bodies are 70% water to begin with.
Aquamation is a non-burn process that is completely automated. At the end of this process, the body has been returned to its original form - amino acids, peptides, sugars and salts. The only solid remains are the bones, which, the same as after a cremation are ground and returned to the family as "ashes”.
Aquamation is now available in Australia, a green process that creates zero pollution and can contribute to the health of communities and help preserve the environment.
